SBRRC Medication Assisted Treatment 2018-2021 Evaluation Report

Spotted Bull Resource Recovery Center just finished a  three-year funded SAMHSA grant aimed to decrease opioid use disorder (OUD) through evidence-based pharmacotherapy and behavioral therapy. SBRRC's unique approach to MAT includes access to suboxone treatment, use of contingency management and motivational incentives, 12-step facilitation, partnerships, training, and communication. Outcomes from the evaluation demonstrate significant progress toward reaching this goal with 39 people receiving therapies and peer recovery support services. Drug and alcohol use decreased from intake to follow-up, and employment and education increased among participants enrolled in the program. SBRRC learned several lessons from the MAT program, the biggest one being that recovery is a journey and continued education about MAT is necessary to reach people where they are. SBRRC's unique culturally-adapted, community-centered approach allows for time, support, and activities that promote their recovery. This evaluation celebrates the accomplishments of the MAT program and the people and programs impacted by SBRRC's leadership and vision.
