Have you ever met someone and just known right away they were the real deal? In my work, realness is about being the highest level of our true self and showing this true self to the world. This can be difficult, especially in a fast-paced, competitive, technologically influenced world. But, the good news is that real people are out there. My good friends and colleagues at the National Indian Health Board 2019 conference have shown me time and time again what being real means.
Finding real in our work as evaluators, storytellers, researchers, and trainers means that we must show up and be seen. It is about being honest, vulnerable, supportive, and open to possibilities. This is not always easy, and you may not be ready for it, but it is worth it.
