This past week our team attended the Global Leadership Summit in Billings Montana. I was so impressed with all of the speakers, but Bryan Stevenson was my favorite!
He is a LEADER and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative. His main message was that we have to get too close to the people that we serve and work with. There is power in proximity–if we are not close to the problem we cannot understand it. He also encouraged us to stay hopeful and do uncomfortable things.
At AKA we believe this and follow a path of hope in the communities we serve. As researchers, evaluators, and servants we seek to understand first, and then be understood.
Always do the right thing, even when the right thing is the hard thing. – Bryan Stevenson, GLS 2017 Speaker
