At AKA in our evaluation process, we often identify successes and challenges. What if teams started to look at successes as WINS and challenges as OPPORTUNITIES.
This is what we are doing at the Tribal Prevention Initiative… and it works. Each week our team meets to celebrate our wins. We also talk about opportunities. We know from our work that challenges are not all bad, they give us an opportunity to do things differently. A huge lesson that I’ve learned through this process is that if something does not work, do not keep doing it! It is okay to change the evaluation approach and adapt for the community and context–this is the key to providing culturally responsive evaluation that makes a difference!
